  1. My Dad said once, when you read a story about the Pharisees in the New Testament, remember that it’s about you.

    They certainly provoked a lot of interesting dialogue out of Jesus, a lot of it aimed at them for a lack of consistency, heart, and priority. But of all the first century groups, they agreed with him the most about spiritual things.

    Interestingly on divorce, one of the things Jesus got mad at them for was divorcing too easily, which would throw the wife into a bad economic and spiritual place, treating her more like a thing than a fellow image bearer.
