  1. Great episode. I personally was raised in a boarding school type environment from a very young age. We send our 8 year old to a private boarding school during the week week and she loves it. Her grades have improved dramatically this year in her first year and she is doing better in life. We treasure our time together on the weekends and I am actively involved and visit her functions there.

Just listened to this episode. I know that the idea of having children educated and ‘raised’ by ‘experts’ has been so roundly mocked in the 100 years since this book, and associated with Russian communism – but having a thirteen year old and knowing that I have only myself to blame for how stressful our relationship is, it’s poignant to think that in a different sort of society I would have had expert help doing what I’ve been doing alone. The children are still with their mothers but their raising is too important to be done by anyone but the best suited to it – don’t I wish….

I know. The older I get the more I find myself wishing I had access to a variety of experts to consult about children. It might make me feel less like Thing1 is the one I have to experiment on…
