This comment is probably a little bit past the episode where it was supposed to go, but because it potentially contains spoilers, I think that’s better than accidentally going BEFORE the episode to which it refers.

I wrote this in an email to Heather, and she asked me to post it on the shownotes, so here goes:

I’m listening to Frankenstein, and Victor has just destroyed the lady creature, for fear that they would breed and conquer the world. The thought that immediately entered my mind was, “Why not just create a woman sans reproductive organs?” I wonder if this omission was to fit with the short-sighted nature of his character, or if it had more to do with what was appropriate for a woman to write. Or perhaps the thought just didn’t occur to Shelley! Of course I realize that his train of thought in that scene was a device to propel the narrative, but I think it is interesting that she did not choose a less rectifiable justification for his destroying this particular creation.
