I heard an interview with the creator of Downton Abbey, and he said after seeing Brendan Coyle in North and South, he created the role of Mr. Bates for him. I really enjoyed North and South, so I’m happy to hear it was fairly close to the original text.

I loved the talk with Larry Uffelman, and I can’t wait to read North and South, since it has been on my list to read after I finish The Fiery Cross. When I finished the mini series of Jane Eyre with Timothy Dalton (it was good but production wasn’t great, preferred the latest with Michael Fassbender, not so much with William Hurt,) the “watch next” suggestion was North and South. After listening to Larry Uffelman, I decided to watch it right away, and loved it! And, as an added bonus, I have a new crush, Richard Armitage! Have you seen it yet? Run, don’t walk, and enjoy one of the best on screen kisses that I have seen in ages!!!

Can’t wait to read North and South and some other Elizabeth Gaskell books, also. Mr. Uffelman really loves her and her writing, and I can’t believe I haven’t read her before. Too much to read!
